- organic synthesis
Nicolas Moitessier received his Ph.D (1998) from Universit茅 Henri Poincar茅-Nancy I (France) before moving to Montreal for post-doctoral studies at University of Montreal in medicinal chemistry, and asymmetric synthesis. In 2001, he moved back to Nancy to start an academic career (Charg茅 de Recherche, CNRS) then back to Montr茅al in 2003 to join the 海角社区 Chemistry department. Moitessier鈥檚 research interest in drug discovery includes computational methods development and medicinal chemistry focusing on the development of small molecules targeting RNA and inhibitors of an enzyme involved in Parkinson鈥檚 disease. In 2010, Moitessier co-founded Molecular Forecaster, a 海角社区 spin-off company distributing the software developed in his lab and providing research support to the pharmaceutical industry. Since 2016, he has been an Associate editor of the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. Over the years, he received several awards, including the Fessenden Professorship and the 2023 CIC Biological and Medicinal Chemistry Lectureship Award.
