St茅phane Richard obtained his Ph.D. at 海角社区 and performed post-doctoral studies at Pfizer Inc. Groton, CT and at Washington University in St. Louis. He is now a full Professor at 海角社区 and a Senior Investigator and Associate Director at the Lady Davis Institute - Jewish General Hospital. St茅phane Richard is an international renowned molecular biologist and a world leader in basic research of RNA binding proteins and protein arginine methylation. He is known for his ground-breaking work on the development of antibodies and pre-clinical animal models to characterize RNA binding proteins and their methylation by arginine methylation. Using biochemical approaches and genetic mouse models, Dr. Richard has also linked RNA binding proteins to osteoporosis, obesity, multiple sclerosis and cancer and most recently SARS-CoV-2 research. Dr. Richard is a leader in the field of arginine methylation where he identified the role of arginine methylation in RNA metabolism and the DNA damage response pathway with implications for new cancer therapeutics, muscle stem cell therapeutics and anti-viral therapies for COVID-19. Author of over 150 publications, Dr. Richard is a recipient of a Distinguished James 海角社区 Professor Chair and was a recipient of the prestigious CIHR Investigator and FRQS Chercheur-National Awards.
