Overview
The multidisciplinary General Practice Residency at the Montreal Children’s Hospital of the º£½ÇÉçÇø Health Centre is a comprehensive hospital-based academic program. It provides an enriching clinical experience combined with an exhaustive curriculum covering all facets of dental medicine. It offers a broad scope of clinical activity that allows the resident to undertake complex dental care in most dental disciplines under the supervision of dental specialists and general practitioners.
The program is based in a pediatric hospital which exposes the resident to general and emergency dental care, oral oncology, facial pain management, as well as children and adolescents with physical and cognitive disabilities. The focus of the training program is advanced education in general dentistry.
Objectives
Residents will gain experience in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, orthodontics and periodontics.
Many opportunities are available to pursue interests in specific fields and to hone skills in digital dental medicine and treatment planning of patients that are medically compromised. Research has been integrated into the residency program to promote scientific development in a stimulating environment. Residents can conduct original research on a specific topic of interest, follow the objectives of a research orientation, carry out a scientific study, analyze data, and contribute new knowledge to their field.
